Galapagos Marine and Operations Manager

The Galapagos Marine and Operations Manager will be responsible for the strategic direction and success of all G Adventures tours in Galapagos.
They will be responsible to ensure the smooth and safe operation of tours, specifically in relation to the G Adventures vessels in Galapagos.
Building relationships, identifying opportunities, vendor management, decision making and overall team leadership will be key to the roles success.
A technical background in vessel operations and administration will be crucial to ensure that we run a consistent operation.
Additionally, the Galapagos Marine and Operations Manager will be able to grow and cultivate their team, and lead a world class operation true to the G Adventures brand.
Lead, manage and develop the Galapagos Marine and Operations team and CEO s. Ensure accuracy, structure and organization allows for efficient processes as well as leading optimal communication with the rest of the organisation world wide.
Manage and coach team members following the respective proceses dictated by our Global Talent and Culture team that include training, engagement, goal setting, career plan and incentives.
Execute the business plan for the success of G Adventures in the region which includes ensuring profitability, accurate budgeting and contracting, meeting customer service and NPS objectives, providing employee growth and opportunity within the company and addressing any issues that may detract from achieving these objectives.
Work with the Global Marine Operations team to ensure our vessels are meeting all requirements related to safety, maintenance, service and talent management.
Responsible for leading the brand awareness of G Adventures in the local market. Providing key stakeholders in the organization the information and insight they need in order to develop a long term market strategy.
Maintain, develop and cultivate relationships with our key suppliers, operators and partners in the region as well as the acquisition of new relationships and opportunities that will benefit the company and it s stakeholders.
Ensure constant communication and feedback are given to our key partners and vendors on an ongoing basis and that service related issues are dealt with swiftly.
Identify and establish local revenue opportunities for pre / post tour as well as within G Adventures existing offering through sourcing local operators and providers that have offerings of interest to G Adventures travellers and which meet our standard operating procedures.
Establish the proper procedures, reporting and processes to facilitate these transactions.
Critical Incident Management assistance and logistical arrangements where necessary. Includes communication with Local Customer Service, CEO s, Operations teams, as well as Toronto Base Camp Operations and Incite teams.
Product Support to Product team in Base Camp and Contract Managers for South America. Able to source and suggest possible itineraries, source providers and assist in the development of new products as driven by the innovation team.
Ensure proper processes are met with Suppliers, Marine and Operations team and Finance to ensure smooth and on time payments to our providers.
Ensure providers are meeting company objectives and standard operating procedures. Working directly with Marine and Operators to ensure any issues are being address and resolved immediately.
Work with regional manager to develop and manage key relationships and contracts with suppliers and work closely with and support the South American Contract / Buyer to continually negotiate and reduce costs of goods on an ongoing basis.
Keeping G Adventures updated with legal and local information for all our boat and land operation in Galapagos and all legal organizations such as Tourism Ministry, Labor Ministry, Social Security.
Represent G Adventures in front of these institutions.
Follow up Work List for all boats, plan Dry Docks, provide respective budgets and working schedule
Supervise weekly expense reports and maintenance plans
Minimum 5 years of Vessel Operations Management Experience in Ecuador / Galapagos or relavant Travel / Tourism Experience
Minimum 3 years experience managing teams
Advanced oral and written skills in both English and Spanish
Exceptional customer service and communication skills
Knowledge Local Tourism Markets in Galapagos
B2B Negotiation and Contracting Experience
Minimum 3 years mid level management experience
Good general business skill set including budgeting, planning, legal and organisational skills
Able and willing to travel internationally
Ability to build strong teams and lead change
Technical knowledge about boat operation
Flexible and easily adapts to changing conditions
Demonstrated decision making abilities along with a take charge leadership
