About this role :

Our customers look to us for engineering expertise with a solution-based approach to reducing risk; ensuring they can operate efficiently and safely in the harshest of environments.

You will be part of a team of passionate professionals, independently visiting ships, shipyards, manufacturing facilities and offshore installations in Ecuador and within other countries in Central and South America when required.

You will draw on your experience to score marine and offshore assets against relevant standards, inspecting, approving and assessing installations, parts of installations, reparations and / or products whether new or in service.

The role may also include managing projects.

Meanwhile, you will pursue continuous professional development to remain fully knowledgeable about the technical considerations that are pertinent to clients, and merge that with a deep understanding of classification society rules, offshore regulations and relevant international standards.

You will assess all risks and work in a safe manner at all times, reporting in a timely manner all incidents including near miss and safety observations.

You will :

  • Contribute day-to-day specialist knowledge and assess complex problems - finding a range of alternative solutions
  • Lead surveys on specific high-risk activities
  • Work out a cost structure for each customer and assess the design, production, in-service aspects of engineering assets for complex and demanding situations
  • Continue your professional development and maintain discipline, knowledge and awareness and mentor or coach colleagues as appropriate
  • Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation, and industry standards
  • To contribute to external client management; ensuring service delivery is continually improved through monitoring and acting on client feedback appropriately
  • Undertake routine administration as required in line with current processes and procedures
  • You will need :

  • Degree or equivalent from a tertiary organization recognized by Lloyd’s Register within the relevant field of engineering
  • Membership of an appropriate professional institution
  • To work in accordance with professional codes of conduct and the LR Code of Ethics
  • To be able to analyze and solve engineering issues using theoretical and practical methods
  • To give technical and commercial leadership within the responsibilities assigned
  • Proficiency in the English language commensurate with the work
