Job Name : Look Ahead Engineer (LAE)

Job Summary :

  • Continuosly updates and improves the design basis for well construction, incorporating lessons learned, best practices, new technologies and new procedures in a technically and economically viable manner.
  • Focusses on the medium-term and long-term planning :
  • prepares and manages the validation of the annual work plan and budget with well types and AFEs supported with statistical analysis (i.
  • e. Cristal Ball), manages the validation of changes of wells type in the annual plan, coordinates peer review of technological pilots projects, new designs, as well as critical and complex wells, coordinates with the Asset Development team the implementation of new projects in well construction (new re-entries, extended reach, new wells completion types, etc.

    including support to the VCD process of special projects, and ammendment to contracts if required.

  • Follows up the implementation of the new initiatives (new wells types, new completions types, etc.) to capture lessons learned and generate the end of job report, including the evaluation of results vs plans.
  • Provides leadership that fosters the integration of well construction into Assets development.
  • Additional Responsibilities :

  • The Look Ahead Engineer must keep fluent communication with the Assets Subsurface Development Manager to ensure any new initiative or new design in Well Construction & Intervention is aligned with, and serves to the Asset goals.
  • Frequent contacts with subsurface and exploitation groups for consultation and coordination.
  • Frequent contacts with IWC Well Engineers and third party service companies not managed by IWC for technical evaluations.
  • Frequent contacts with IWC Well (Operations) Engineers to ensure new designs and procedures are in line with current resources and equipment availability.
  • Ensures accurate estimates of budget estimates, scoping cost and AFE's for the new initiatives.
  • Ensures that the risk analysis, Exemptions / MOCs, Peer Reviews, and appropiate approvals are in place for the execution of the well work.
  • Carry out technical peer review and presentations to HQ of the new designs.
  • Ensure that all the new well activities are in line with IWC Well Management Standards.
  • Ensures retention of lessons learned from the new intitiatives implementation.
  • Requirements :

  • At least 10 years of experience in well engineering.
  • Strong technical knowledge with the ability to design and implement new wells designs, and optimize current processes.
  • Inquisitive and proactive in the search of new new technologies, technical papers or documentation that is fundamental to the innovation process.
  • Good interpersonal, communication and leadership skills for interfacing with different technical authorities, service providers to lead the peer review and innovation process.
