NCBA CLUSA is currently seeking 2 (1- remote US volunteer and 1- volunteer based in Ecuador) qualified Farmer-to-Farmer volunteer candidates for the position of Coffee Post-Harvest Handler to support Asociación Nacional de Exportadores de Café del Ecuador (ANECAFE) based in Manta, Ecuador .
ANECAFE was founded in May 1983 as a private non-profit entity. It is the oldest coffee trade union in Ecuador. With over 38 years of existence, based in the city of Manta in the province of Manabí, (one of the provinces with the longest tradition of coffee production in the country.
They currently require assistance in modifying their post-harvest handling procedures; drying, fermentation, and storage so that more of their producers will be able to participate in the Taza Dorada (the most prestigious coffee competition in the country).
Improved post-harvest handling practices will increase their cupping scores, promote quality coffee, and increase their producer’s sales.
