Position Purpose & Summary This role is a Subject Matter Expert (SME), part of the Process Improvement System Optimization team supporting all A&F Regions in ERP Deployments and Process Improvement Initiatives.
This position partners with the Global Process Managers (GPMs) in the Global Process Organization (GPO) to understand target architecture and process objectives, and with Global IT to ensure that decisions made regarding the configuration or process of financial transactions in our ERP systems are aligned with the strategic direction, in their respective areas of expertise.
This role is heavily engaged in the creation and maintenance of the Finance Playbooks containing Cargill’s approval finance processes, controls, and their respective IT target solutions.
This position partners with the Finance Process Implementation Leads (PILs) and Business Process Owners (BPOs), educating them on the Finance Playbooks and assisting them on necessary change management as needed, in their respective areas of expertise.
This role is engaged in process improvement initiatives or changes in our ERP systems in all the regions and enterprises, when they affect the way financial processes are executed, the required financial controls, or the accuracy of financial postings.
This role collaborates with Global I.T. to provide direction for conceptual solution designs when gaps are identified from required business processes versus the defined Finance Playbooks, documents and proposes the recommended solution, and works with the GPMs to gain approval of such solutions within the Finance ERP Governance council.
Principal Accountabilities 50% Solution Delivery
In collaboration with Global IT, provides direction for the deployment of financial processes and controls in SAP deployment projects, sustain activities, process improvement initiatives and major ERP technical upgrades, when new processes, desired improvements or technology limitations avoid a natural alignment with the Finance Playbooks (including legal localizations).
In collaboration with Global IT, evaluates the impact of removing existing deviations in the SAP instances identified in the Finance Playbooks.
Assists the Global Process Managers (GPMs) in the process of approval of the proposed solutions / changes, within the Finance ERP Governance Council.
Follows-up with the Global IT teams to ensure the proper implementation of the approved solutions / changes.
Provides assistance to Finance Process Implementation Leads (PILs) and Business Process Owners (BPOs) when Finance users are significantly impacted by changes in the ERP solution.
40% Process Governance
Partners with the Global Process Managers to understand target architecture and process objectives in their respective area.
Partners with Global IT to ensure alignment with target architecture and accepted processes in all the ERP deployments, post-
deployment changes, PI initiatives and major ERP technical upgrades.
Together with the GPMs, is responsible for the creation and maintenance of the Finance Playbooks for their area of expertise, which will reflect the Cargill’s accepted Finance processes, their respective IT target solutions (even at configuration level) and existing exceptions / variations between SAP instances.
Escalates risks of deviations from target architecture or process objectives to the Finance ERP Governance Council.
Educates the PILs and BPOs on the Finance Playbooks, in order to help them to identify deviations from target architecture in their respective projects / enterprises.
Partners with the Controls COE and Controls domain as necessary to ensure the compliance of the proposed solutions with Cargill standards
10% Other Responsibilities
Follows the technology trends and utilizes this knowledge to propose innovative solutions and to find new improvement opportunities.
Provides technical oversight and coaching to others when related to complex technical issues.
Assists the PILs during critical phases i.e. ERP go-lives, PECs, etc.
Minimum Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business, Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related field
5-7+ years of relevant experience
General knowledge of and experience in SAP financial processes
Strong SAP functional and technical knowledge of and experience in one or more of the following areas : Gral Accounting : FI-
GL, FI-AA. Knowledge of SAP MDG (for finance objects) and SAP FC10 will be considered a plus Controlling : CO-PC, CO-OM, CO-
PA. Knowledge of Business Intelligence tools will be considered a plus Tax and Customs : Tax configuration in SAP. Knowledge of SAP GTS and OneSource will be considered a plus Procure to Pay : FI-
AP, FI-BL. Knowledge of Opentext VIM, Ariba will be considered a plus Order and Trade Settlement to Cash : FI-AR, FI-BL, FSCM-
CR / COL / DM. Knowledge of Autobank will be considered a plus Cash Management & Financial Risk Management : FSCM-IHC / CLM / TRM.
Wide experience in the trading business will be considered a plus.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities in their dedicated area
Ability to identify upstream and downstream impacts from process changes in dedicated area
Demonstrated experience in the use technology to improve process and controls
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences

Ability to travel up to 5-10%
Experience in one or more Cargill businesses
